What is it? Non-GMO sugarcane, or more specifically, expanded polylactic acid (E-PLA) derived from non-GMO sugarcane. Our manufacturing process works like this:
Our first-gen feedstock, GMO-free sugarcane is produced, refined into sugar, and fermented to lactic acid, from which lactide is made.
The lactide is then polymerized into PLA and processed into the optimal bio-particles which resemble large grains of sand.
The bio-particles are then pre-expanded into puffed particles which resemble small popcorn kernels.
Using heat and pressure on modified EPS foam manufacturing equipment, the puffed particles are produced into rigid foam blocks or moulded shapes. Benign CO2 is the sole blowing agent.
